Eriosyce Taltalensis Subsp. Paucicostata

Taltal eriosyce, scientifically known as Eriosyce taltalensis subsp. paucicostata, is a rare and unique cactus native to the arid regions of northern Chile. This species is characterized by its compact growth form and distinctive, woolly stems that help it retain moisture in harsh desert conditions. It thrives in rocky soils and sparse vegetation, adapting to extreme temperature fluctuations and limited rainfall. Due to its limited distribution and habitat specificity, it is considered a vulnerable species facing threats from environmental changes and human activity. Despite its challenges, the Taltal eriosyce remains an important symbol of the resilience of desert flora.
