Egenolfia Montana

Mountain egenolfia, scientifically known as Egenolfia montana, is a rare and fascinating plant found in high-altitude regions of the western United States. It belongs to the Apiaceae family, commonly known as the carrot or parsley family, which includes many familiar edible and medicinal plants. This delicate species thrives in cool, moist environments, often growing in rocky soils and open meadows at elevations above 7,000 feet. Its unique appearance, with finely divided leaves and small, clustered white flowers, makes it easily identifiable in its native habitat. Despite its beauty, Egenolfia montana remains understudied and is considered a vulnerable species due to habitat loss and environmental changes.
