Colutia Frutescens

Redroot, scientifically known as Colutia frutescens, is a hardy perennial plant native to the southeastern United States. It thrives in moist, rich soils and is often found along stream banks and in woodland edges. The plant is characterized by its red-stemmed appearance and clusters of small, white flowers that bloom in late spring. Despite its common name, it is not related to true red roots but gets its name from the color of its stems. Redroot is valued for its ornamental appeal and its ability to support local pollinators.
