Cocos Macrocarpa

West indian date palm, scientifically known as Cocos macrocarpa, is a striking tropical plant native to the Caribbean and parts of Central America. This palm is renowned for its tall, slender trunk and large, fan-shaped leaves that create a lush, green canopy. While it shares some similarities with the more commonly known coconut palm, it has distinct features that set it apart in both appearance and ecological role. The plant produces small, edible fruits that have been used by indigenous communities for centuries. Due to habitat loss and environmental changes, Cocos macrocarpa is now considered a rare and endangered species.
